My unit is showing “3-Disc Changer” in the display and I am unable to clear it off.
My Mini-Component system is showing military time and resetting the clock does not change it.
Why does my CD player skip when playing CDs?

My unit is showing “3-Disc Changer” in the display and I am unable to clear it off.
This would indicate that the unit is in the Demonstration mode. To remove it, press the “Demo” button located on the front of the unit.

My Mini-Component system is showing military time and resetting the clock does not change it.
Please reset the “Time display” mode to either “AM12:00” or “AM 0:00”. See “To Switch the Time Display Mode” located in the “Setting the Clock” section of your operational manual. If the display mode does not change, please call us at 1-800-BE-SHARP.

Why does my CD player skip when playing CDs?
It may mean that the lens inside the unit is dirty. We recommend using a dry CD lens cleaner to clean the unit. If you still experience a problem, please call us at 1-800-BE-SHARP.

Why is my unit not recording from the CD to tape?
Verify that the tape is in the correct tape compartment for recording. Usually, it is Tape 2. Please see “Recording from the built-in CD player” located in the “Recording” section of your operational manual for more information.

My rack system is showing “M’ERR” when I am trying to play CDs.
This usually indicates that the shipping screws have not been removed from the unit. There are 4 screws. 2 are located in the back of the unit and 2 are on the side. See “Preparation for Use” in your operation manual.

The tuning up and down buttons on my remote control do not work.
These buttons will only work if you have already preset the stations into the unit’s memory. Please see “Preset Tuning” located in the “Tuner Operation” section of your instruction manual.

I am not getting any AM stations on my unit.
Check to see if the AM Loop antenna that comes supplied with the stereo has been attached.

Why does my unit show “ERR” in the display when I attempt to play a CD?
Try cleaning the lens on the unit first with a dry CD lens cleaner. If that does not work, please take the unit to a Sharp authorized servicer for evaluation. Visit the "Get Service" section of this website and select Service Locator.

My stereo is connected to another source and I cannot get sound.
  • Check the connections on the source to make sure they are connected correctly by the color on the audio output jacks.
  • Make sure the correct color connections are connected to an available input jack on the stereo.
  • Select the correct input mode on the stereo to get sound.

My Surround system is not receiving stereo sound on all of the speakers.
  • Check to see what mode you have selected.
  • Normal for 2 channel stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1 output to all speakers
  • Phantom gives no sound from the center speaker.
  • Bypass gives sound from only the front L/R speakers.

Why don't my buttons respond when I press them on my audio system?
We suggest setting the unit to the power stand-by mode and then turning it back on.

Why can’t I select a CD track with the direct buttons on my remote control?
When you select random or programmed playback, you will not be able to select a track with the direct buttons on your remote.

Why can’t I access the total remaining time on my CD?
If you select the random playback mode, you cannot access the display for remaining time.

Why am I getting a "CD No Disc" error message when trying to play a CD?
Try reloading the CD.

What caused my audio unit to lose the current time and timer settings?
If there is a momentary loss in power or power failure, the unit will lose the time. You will need to reset the clock.

Why can’t I play CD-R or CD-RW discs if my unit has this feature?
Some discs may not play due to the state of the disc or the device that was used to record the CD.

What can I do if my audio system is malfunctioning and not operating correctly?
We suggest unplugging the unit and then plugging it back into the wall outlet. If the problem still exists, we suggest clearing the memory by resetting the unit.
